Realisation: Do Bad Parents Karmically Beget Bad Kids?

Parental genetic inheritance is llusiory as we 'inherit' similar but personal karmic tendencies from our past.
There is a common misunderstanding that negative karma from parents can be passed on to their children, as if karma can be 'transfered' via inherited genes. This idea is hard to debunk because it can seem true that parents who do much evil beget say, offsprings with poor health from birth. The Buddhist teachings do not advocate the belief that 'original sin' from one generation can infect the next, for this would invalidate the otherwise natural but fair workings of karma, whereby one only enjoys/suffers the good/ill fruits cultivated personally.
How is it so that evil parents suffer via their children? Isn't this unfair to the kids? When children suffer, it is a result of their own karmic fruition, just as suffering of the parents is a result of their own karma. However, their suffering intersects via interaction as the parents suffer the pains of caring for the children, who might also suffer from not being well cared for. As such, it's not so much that parents suffer through their children or children through their parents; it's a matter of them suffering together due to the play of collective karma.
Conversely, parents who do good tend to beget good children. Even though the children's well-being is a result of their own karma, it still does make sense to cultivate goodness - to karmically deserve and thus attract better children! While 'birds' of similar karmic 'feathers' flock together as family, individual karma still exists. No one is doomed to suffer with one's family as karma is dynamic, up to us to 'tweak' with new karma created, which creates fresh potential to dilute and thus transform past karmic potentials. I don't know how this can be. My grandfather did bad things and those things effected my mother. My mothers actions then came to me. I didn't do bad things in this life but something plagues me.

Something plagues us all - mostly our neurotic tendencies - this is because we are unenlightened - suffering from the fruition of past karma. We really must take this opportunity of a human birth to improve ourselves for a brighter future.

I have Reflected and Mediatative on the Introduction Statement.I withdraw my Advosario Stance to this Group Concerning the possibility of Karma being used as a Tool and Policy Practice to Promote Racism toward Parenting Practices of of Cultural Minority Groups such as Black African Americans and My Group Indigenous Native Indians.I choose to Re-invent and reframe my response To the Question of Karma to Children and Bad Parents.Ist to lay out clear Definations and Catagories.Group Children and Bad Parents are Separate concerning Karma.Karmic Consiquences and Karmic Responsibility.Then the Whole Subject of What is Karma?Like the Catholic Church that said the World was Flat and Later scientest Carpornicas demostrated the Earth circles the Sun.The outlook and Defination and understanding of Karma has Changed.This is a very good Discussion Because its the Misunderstanding and misuse of Karma that cause Confiict and War,Slavory,and Racism and Violence we see in the World Today.Karma used as a Judgement to Project a Label on another Human Being or Group Creates Separation.To Go from I-Thou to I-It immediately creates Us and Thems.The use of Language its Self poses problems for Healing and Peace.In the Diamond Sutra,There is no separation which is Duolistic in its Self.Duolism,Division,Separation is a Confict in and of itself.It is a Set up for Pain and Suffering trhat is Self Perpetuating Thus the Wheel of Life and Death and Samsara http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sa%E1%B9%83s%C4%81ra .I would Like to Discuss this Further.By three separate reponse, One Karma and Children,Two Karma and Bad Parents,Three Post Modern outlook on Karma.Then Last tie it all together the:Do Bad Parents Karmalically begat bad Children.To Be Continued.St.Thomas SpreadingEagle.

Karma means 'cause and effect', nothing more. 'race' is an illusion, and hate based upon 'race' is an illness. 'hate' is self abuse, called 'suffering' in Buddhism. Striking out at others based on hate is suffering and there is only one way to get out of that endless suffering... Become unattached to it. Be who you are, regardless of others. Remain unattached and others cannot pass their suffering to you. Instead, through your non-attachment, you can manifest your natural compassion, and they will learn from it... or not. It is their choice.
